| You
are what you eat and absorb
|
 |
Your energy and
physical well being are directly influenced by the food you eat.
You can't eat too much "junk" food and expect
to stay healthy and strong. Good nutrition can contribute towards
a healthy heart, improved circulation, lower cholesterol,
improved immune system, and gives you the ability to reach
and maintain a healthy weight.
| What
is nutritional therapy?
|
 |
Clinical nutrition
is not just about healthy eating, it is about matching your lifestyle
and biochemical individuality with your individual nutrient requirements.
After identifying
foods in your diet that may be causing you problems, a personal
diet plan is created that is uniquely structured according to
your individual health needs. All consultations are confidential
and your nutrition programme is posted directly to you.
| What
happens during a consultation?
|
 |
The first
consultation involves a complete examination of your circumstance.
This includes: Dietary & Biochemical Status, Lifestyle,
Environmental & Emotional Factors, and Family Medical
History. From this information it is possible to determine
the best way to begin restoring your health and provide specific
nutritional advice to help you achieve this. In some instances
bio-resonance screening using the Vega System may be used to determine
your vitamin and mineral status as well as food and environmental
sensitivities.
| How
Many consultations are needed?
|
 |
Follow-up
consultations are advised every 6-8 weeks (2 or 3 are recommended).
During follow-up consultations we discuss how things are going,
assess test results, deal with any new symptoms that may have
arisen, introduce further dietary changes and if necessary add
supplements to correct any biochemical imbalances.
| Eat
To Stay Healthy
|
 |
Food is very
closely linked to your body's immune system which guards your
body against poisons and harmful bacteria. If you are sensitive
to a particular food your body doesn't completely digest it, this
allows incompletely digested food to enter the bloodstream
where it is treated as an enemy, putting your immune system under
stress.
If you are
regularly eating foods that don't agree with you, this stress
will eventually weaken your immune system making you more prone
to illness. However, identifying the foods you are intolerant
to and eliminating them from your diet will enable your immune
system to work more effectively at protecting you from illness.
| Recognising
a Food Intolerance
|
 |
Food intolerances
usually manifest themselves within 1-72 hours of eating. There
is not a proven immune response in this type of reaction and it
can be very difficult to pinpoint exactly when an intolerance
to a certain food has begun. For many people the problems start
with a headache or poor digestion, bloating, gas and wind. Slowly
over the months or years, health problems become worse and a whole
host of new symptoms can be experienced. These symptoms can fluctuate
from day to day but generally sufferers are run down and more
prone to infections and lethargy.
| What
is the difference between food intolerance and a food allergy
|
 |
Unlike food
intolerance, a food allergy causes a hypersensitive reaction of
the immune system and usually shows itself within a few minutes
of eating or being exposed to the offending substance. Reactions
can be severe and even cause death from anaphylactic shock. The
most commonly known triggers are peanuts and wasp/bee stings.
| Do
many people suffer from food intolerance?
|
 |
Millions of
people suffer from food intolerance of some type, leading to years
of ill health. Many go from doctor to doctor in an effort to solve
the problem without any success. Most of this suffering could
be reduced by a simple food intolerance test.
| The
"Vega" Food intolerance Test
|
 |
The Vega test
is one of the latest developments in food sensitivity testing.
It was developed in Germany and is used to measure changes in
body resistance. It is completely non-invasive and painless.
The patient
holds onto a silver baton whilst a probe is placed on an acupuncture
point on the finger. Both the baton and the probe are connected
to a machine, making a complete circuit. Potential allergens are
then inserted into the honeycomb matrix and a measurement is taken,
using the frontal dials on the machine. Intolerances and food
sensitivities can be detected.
The test is
an alternative, non-invasive procedure. It is NOT a medical diagnosis,
nor does it pretend to be. Before the test begins you will need
to complete a short questionnaire i.e. health problems, medications
you are taking etc. When coming for a test it is also advisable
to bring along any substance or material you feel you may be intolerant
to. |
