The World Health Organisation has compiled a list of conditions which it considers appropriate for Acupuncture treatment. This includes: Arthritis, Asthma, Back Pain and Migraine. Chinese medical theory states that our energy, or chi, moves through our body in certain pathways, and whilst this energy is freely flowing we will be in good health. If for any reason this flow does not run freely, ill health can result. This is a difficult concept for most of us in the west. However, we all recognise that we run on certain types of electrical impulse and this is just energy.

During treatment, fine needles are inserted into specific points and this has the effect of moving our energy and stimulating it’s smooth flow, like in the country’s electrical grid system where by moving certain switches you can redirect, make stronger or make weaker the electrical energy in certain areas. The needles, depending on diagnosis, can be taken out straight away or left in for about twenty minutes to get the desired result. Some people respond very quickly to the treatment whilst others may take longer, especially if the problem is a long standing one.
